Kevin Day is founder and principal of Day & Associates, a San Francisco Bay Area executive search firm serving a range of clients in the healthcare segment, from Fortune 500 companies to start-up ventures. The firm’s assignments cover the full range of senior management and board functions. Kevin’s career began in the labs of G. D. Searle, as a graduate fellow in R&D, and progressed to general manager responsibilities for Abbott Labs. Subsequently, he held senior management responsibilities for Cooper Vision International. Kevin was also the founder and CEO of DR Labs, a device-based start-up company, where he arranged several rounds of financing, as well as managed investment transactions to fund development programs (Stanford and UCSF) and new product introductions.
Kevin’s 25 years of healthcare experience as a line manager and in organization development make him a sought-after advisor to companies not only in the area of executive search, but on strategic, organizational, and business development issues. He has either managed or recruited for every major function within healthcare organizations.
Kevin’s articles on leadership, executive recruiting and retention, and board governance have appeared in Pharmaceutical Executive magazine and in a Day & Associates’ Position Paper. He is frequently quoted in newspapers and business publications on topics ranging from talent shortages and changing workforce demographics to trends in executive search. He is also a sought-after speaker on such topics as The Evolving Role of Healthcare Leadership, and The State of Executive Search.
Kevin holds an M.A. in organizational development from Antioch University and a B.S. in business administration from Rider University. He is a member of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He was chairman of the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC) membership committee. Kevin is married to Joan Day, who is president of Promedica, a leading healthcare marketing research company. Kevin and his family reside in San Francisco, CA, where they are active community members.
Paul brings three decades of experience in the health care, biotech, pharma, medical device and diagnostics industries. Most recently, he has been an independent strategic advisor to several organizations. Just prior to this, he served full-time as HR Vice President for Strategic Alliance Management at PAREXEL in Boston. Previously Paul was Corporate Vice President of Global Human Resources and Public Affairs at Bausch & Lomb. He held a similar position at Boston-based BioTrove Inc. (acquired by Life Technologies), focusing on organizational development and human resources.
Earlier in his career, Paul was a Partner and Principal at CHM Partners Int’l LLC, an international retained executive search and management consulting firm. He has also served as Corporate VP of Human Resources at Covance; Executive Vice President Human Resources and Public Affairs at Novartis, NA. Prior to Novartis being formed in 1997, Paul was the Senior Vice President of HR and Communications at Ciba Geigy. In addition, he has held teaching and administrative roles at the University of Virginia and James Madison University.
Paul has served in board leadership roles in healthcare, the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation and Bausch & Lomb/Lions International Pediatric Cataract Initiative. He is currently active with the newly established Children’s Hospital at UVA. Additionally, Paul is involved in higher education with the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education Foundation and Darden School of Business’ Partnership for Leaders in Education.
Paul earned a BA in History, with honors, from Northeastern University, an MAT in History, a Ph.D. in Education and an MBA from the University of Virginia.
Stephanie MacDonald brings to Day & Associates more than 20 years of experience in executive search. She has successfully recruited top talent for publicly held, venture-funded, and privately held companies at many levels, including CEO, president, vice president, general manager, and director. Stephanie’s experience cuts across many industries: biotech, life sciences, medical device, pharmaceutical, technology, engineering & construction, energy, infrastructure, and consumer/retail. Previously, Stephanie worked as a search consultant for the retained executive search firms of Kors Marlar Savage & Associates in Los Angeles, Nadzam Lusk & Associates in Santa Clara, CA and Splaine & Associates in Los Gatos, CA. She holds a B.S. in communication studies from UCLA. Stephanie and her family reside in the Temecula Valley, in the heart of California’s South Coast wine region.

Fran has been with Day and Associates since summer of 2012 and has been a tremendous asset to our team. She sources candidates, maintains our database and contributes to project management. Before starting with Day and Associates, Fran was the Manager of Human Resources at Applied Graphic Technologies and Magically, Inc. and the Sr. Staffing Specialist for Stansbury Staffing. She is adept at juggling multiple tasks and priorities, and is a team player devoted to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction. She lives in Foster City with her husband and holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Massachusetts.
